Content, Life and “What to Expect” Update

Well, it seems to have been a while since we last spoke. It is amazing how life can run away with you so quickly. Apologies for the lack of posting. I guess being busy isn’t such a bad thing though! Before I dive back into normal content, I thought I’d give you a little update as to where I have been. I also want to update you on what to expect on this blog going forward.

Where did you disappear to?

It has been a bit silent around these parts recently and I’m frustrated that I haven’t been able to get all the content up that I have wanted to. Especially given how many more of you there are now! Aside from the usual life/birthdays/family commitments, I have been working away on my first ever web development project. For a local community website.

I was essentially doing my first ‘real’ coding job and needed to give it all of my attention. It was an interesting project with lots to get stuck into, though this meant there was a huge learning curve. A brilliant opportunity to practice my skills, whilst also being very time consuming – but more on that soon. I have completed the web development course I was taking at the end of May too.

What content to expect here going forward.

Now that I have some time freed up, there are so many content ideas I have in store for this site! Although it was an unexpected break away from writing, it seems to have done some good as I have ideas for days. I have been taking notes as I study, so will continue with the Learning to Code series, to bring you all up to date with my progress as well as any tips and tricks for those of you in the same boat. The first of which is coming up on Wednesday all about jQuery.

I also have some more, organisational content planned to help out those of you who just can’t seem to get your head around all the things you have to do in life and work. Including a comparison of paper vs digital scheduling and a mini challenge to get you organised – which after the last few months I will be doing right along with you!

There will also be some useful (hopefully!) posts coming up on simple SEO for web developers just starting out. As well as resources and websites that have helped me along the way.

Before we get back to it, I just want to say a warm hello to all the new readers here and a huge thank you. I have received lovely comments and support about this site and on social media in the last few months. It is wonderful to meet and talk to like minded people. I am glad you are finding the content here helpful. If you have any suggestions or advice based on what I write then I’d love to hear from you! Twitter and Facebook are best for getting hold of me.

If you have yet to read any of the learning to code series, you can find them here:

1. Learning to Code | HTML

2. Learning to Code | CSS

3. Learning to Code | Javascript

Otherwise, I will see you Wednesday with  Learning to Code #4, all about jQuery.
