About me

I’m Louise, a qualified art teacher, art psychotherapist in training, practicing artist and the creator of ‘Louminous’.

Over the sixteen years that I have worked in education (mainstream, private, and Alternative Learning Provisions in Banes and Bristol), I have discovered my passion is to help young people, especially those that are struggling emotionally. Witnessing the positive impact that being in the art room can have on a young person’s wellbeing drove me to work with students at a Pupil Referral Unit based in Bath and Bristol.

Most of the teenagers I encountered had SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health), SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities),  PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Many were neurodivergent, youth offenders or victims of abuse and Child Criminal / Sexual Exploitation.

Observing these young people in the art room experiencing the escapism that making art can bring, is something I love and feel privileged to be able to facilitate.

The healing power of art making cannot be underestimated. It is this concept that has driven me to study Art Psychotherapy and create Louminous Art and Wellbeing.

My aim is to provide a trauma informed, safe, therapeutic environment where everyone can: find relief; build confidence and express themselves visually if they find it difficult to verbalise what is bubbling beneath the surface.

I would be love to discuss how my art workshops can benefit you or your organisation.

Please phone or email me to schedule a meeting or to receive more detailed information about our programs.
